New and exciting developments

In the past week, Zoe has had many exciting milestones. She began to go six hours between feedings at night, which means Mommy gets more sleep. Yay!!!! She also has continued to work very hard at getting her fist in her mouth. Here is her first video debut. Not too exciting, but it highlights many of her abilities so far: flailing arms, hiccups, and yawning. :) You can also get a peek at her new bathtub in the background. This was a week and a half ago. Hopefully, I can get a more current video up soon. She's already grown up a lot! (Sorry for the graininess of the video. It lets me upload a max of 100MB . The video was 112MB, so I tried a different format. Now it's around 20MB. Let me know if you have tips for doing it some other way. I'm fairly new to all of this.)

She is working on other things right now like...

Zoning out

More zoning out

Laughing at Uncle Tim's funny faces

Lots of practice smiling and being generally cuteFor her final amazing achievement this week, Zoe finally found her thumb! She had been crying in her crib and unexpectedly quieted down. When I went to check on her, this was what I found.

She's been trying to repeat the feat since then, but hasn't had much success. She is more determined than ever.

A little bit of progress

Here I am, up late again, but I think it's getting better. Two nights ago I got into bed a little before 5am, yesterday 2:30am, and tonight I'm aiming for 1:00am. My main goal has been to keep Zoe asleep for at least some of the night hours. I think it's been working. She has been staying awake much more during the day. She still cries for hours after I put her down though. Tomorrow night a kind friend is going to stay over and do one night feeding. Yay!!

In other Zoe news...she has been realizing that she has some control over her arms and hands (a very little). She has been spending a lot of time trying to get her hand in her mouth. At least that's what we think she's doing. She opens her mouth and throws her arm around in the general direction of her face. We're hoping she doesn't poke her eye in the attempt.

We are enjoying her smiles and cooing. She is getting more personality every day.

I've set the blog up to email a few of you when we publish a post. I will probably discontinue that after a few posts. I just wanted to let you know that we are actually posting now. If you want the notification every time we publish, let me know and I'll keep your email in the settings. I can only notify 10 people through Blogger, so it's only going out to family right now, but feel free to share the blog with other friends and family that know us.

The Plan for Tonight

Well, I don't have anything too exciting to post. So I think I'll just ramble on about the plan for tonight. It's already 1:30am. My goal is to keep Z asleep as much as possible tonight. That probably means I'll be up almost all night. She is very confused these days about what a normal schedule should be. Her nighttime starts around 7am. I think she slept almost the whole day today until 7pm or so (waking up to eat, of course). We try to wake her up and keep her up, but our efforts don't seem to help at all. I've been letting her cry it out at night, but I'm almost positive that most of the time is spent crying and screaming until I get up to feed her again. That seems to reinforce her desire to sleep during the day. Argh!!

The more crazy options I've considered include driving all through the night to reset her schedule (driving all day is what got us in this spot in the first place) or switching my schedule to become a nighttime person and stop fighting this whole problem (but then I will never see anyone except Z).

Any suggestions?
